No library trip today!

After sorting through the books and making sure nothing from the Library A bags made it into the bags for Library B, I loaded three kids into the van and headed out to resupply our reading material for the long weekend.  I had meant to take the kids to the library on Wednesday, but there were dental appointments and Thanksgiving preparations to keep us busy.  I'd only made it to the end of our street before I considered that maybe the library would be closed today.  Maybe the library considers the day after Thanksgiving a day off?  Sure, I'd seen the signs with the turkeys that said "The library will be closed for Thanksgiving on . . ." during my last couple stops there, but I didn't actually read them. Ironic in a library.

So, yes, the library was closed.  We returned our books anyway and then picked up lunch at Wendy's to console ourselves, because we didn't get new books and Mom was all cooked-out from Thanksgiving.

But here are three of our favorite picture books from the batch we returned today:

Oliver by Judith Rossell
Oliver is one curious kid with lots of questions.  When he wonders what lives down the drain of his bathtub, his imagination takes him on a wildly creative ride.

We admit that we're suckers for great illustrations, and this one hit a home run!

Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty
Iggy Peck is a natural builder, but his new teacher at school has no appreciation for architecture.  Find out the dramatic way that Iggy uses his talents to change her mind.

Good rhymes and great pictures.

Even Monsters Need Haircuts by Matthew McElligott
A young boy opens his father's barbershop at night to tend to the grooming needs of his monster customers.

This is a very fun and unique story with fantastic pictures and details.
